Graduated from The Dalles High School, The Dalles, Oregon, in 1987. Attended the University of Washington and earned a BA in General Science Education in 1992. Taught at Chinook Middle School in Lacey 1992-1993, Griffin Middle School in Olympia 1993-1997, Tenino High School in Tenino 1997-2002, G.W. Bush Middle School in Tumwater 2002-2014, Tumwater Middle School 2020-2021, A.G. West Black Hills High School 2014-present.
Earned Private Pilot's license in 1990. Earned Advanced Ground Instructor license in 2013. Earned Instrument rating and Commercial license in 2014. Certificated Flight Instructor license earned 2015. Seaplane rating earned 2016. Added instrument rating to flight instructor certificate 2017, Multi-engine rating 2020, and Multi-engine instructor certificate 2023.
